The WHO Prequalification Team (WHO/PQT) announced on 21 November 2014 that the pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities of Evans Medical Ltd, May & Baker Nigerian Ltd, and Chi Pharmaceuticals Limited, all located in Nigeria, have been jointly inspected with Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and found compliant with WHO good manufacturing practice (GMP).

This brings the total number of WHO-GMP compliant facilities in West Africa to four. (Swiss Pharma Nigeria Limited (Swipha) was also inspected jointly by WHO/PQT, and found GMP-compliant, in April 2014.) With this achievement, West Africa gets closer to its goal of ensuring a supply of locally-produced, quality-assured medicines for its population.
